The thing that caught the judges’ eyes was the fact that, despite being without his own transport, Derek regularly travels by train or bus to events all over the country, completing the final leg of his journey, often in our appalling British weather conditions, by foot.

The award will be presented to Derek at the ACU Awards Presentation on 30th January 2010 at the Park Inn Hotel, Northampton. Derek will also receive two complimentary tickets for the 2010 Moto GP Round at Assen and £500 spending money.

The ACU would like to thank Lockton International for their continued support and all Road Race Clubs who submitted their nominations.

For further information regarding Marshalling please contact Michelle Haynes on 01788 566405 or e-mail michelle@acu.org.uk
<img height="115" width="228" src="/uploaded/image/Lockton.jpg" alt="Lockton" / >

Expression of Interest forms have now been sent out to all Marshals who attended the WSBK and Moto GP events in 2008 and 2009. These need to be returned to the MMA by 12th March 2010.

If you have not been a Marshal at a previous MMA World Championship event, in 2008/9 you can still be considered to attend next year’s events, but your application will need to be endorsed by your Chief Marshal. They will have the required forms for you to complete return to them for forwarding to the MMA by 12th March.

For the 2010 events we have had to introduce a minimum training standard and can only consider applications from members who have completed an approved training course in 2008, 2009 or 2010. The approved courses are:-

2008, any Racesafe course or the ACU course at Donington Park

2009, any Racesafe course or the MMA Course held at Mallory Park

2010, any of the Racesafe/MMA courses detailed above.

Marshal’s training is clearly a vital role, in ensuring that our members are able to perform their duties to the best of their ability.

The MMA has recently joined forces with Racesafe to provide Marshals training courses for 2010.The course will now be known as the Racesafe/MMA Training Course.

The dates and venues for the 2010 courses are shown below:-

Oulton Park 16th January & 17th January

Silverstone 23rd January

Bedford 24th January

Thruxton 6th February

Silverstone 7th February

East Fortune 27th February

Croft 28th February

Members of Racesafe can enrol for these courses on an individual basis. Until we are better able to determine demand for these courses, however, applications from members of other clubs will be restricted to those Marshals that need to attend one of these courses to meet the requirements for selection to Marshal at WSBK or Moto GP. If this means you, please apply via your Chief Marshal who will forward your details to the MMA. Once processed you will receive confirmation from Racesafe/MMA.
